Leonard Cheshire Disability’s new report “No Place Like Home”

Leonard Cheshire Disability have released a new report “No Place Like Home”. The report reveals a number of shocking statistics about housing for the disabled, including:

  • Up to 300,000 disabled people will spend Christmas trapped in unsuitable homes.
  • 84% of councils have no idea how many wheelchair-friendly homes are in their area.
  • Disabled people being failed by the government and house builders.

In response the group has began the “Home Truths” campaign which wants “to see house builders and all political parties commit to making sure the next generation of homes are all easily adaptable.” The eventual aim being to make 1 in 10 houses wheelchair friendly.

Lincolnshire Independent Living is in full support of this campaign. If you would like more information about the campaign or want to help by signing the petition, please follow the link below.
