The Volunteer Card Training Opportunities Available

Children’s Links have been granted some funding through Enable to provide Volunteer Card training for up to 20 people. The training will be delivered in East Lindsey through May / June and consists of a 5 week course – half a day per week.

The Volunteer Card is a training programme to recognise and reward volunteers and those seeking employment opportunities. The aim of the training is to support volunteers and individuals who wish to learn new skills that will benefit their personal development and also enable their voluntary and community group to develop.

The course is split in to modules, covering themes such as Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Good Standards Practice, Team Working and Customer Care.

On successful completion of all modules, the trainee will receive a certificate and a wallet-sized card with a paper form detailing the core training and experience – a ‘volunteering CV’, which is the trainee’s to keep and progress.

The funding is available to those aged 19years and over, and seeking employment opportunities (cannot be currently employed). No upper age limit, but they do need to be seeking employment opportunities.

Places are limited, so book your place now by contacting Children’s Links on:

LIL Report 2016

LIL’s 2016 report is now available for download, see below for the full text of the report.

It’s been another busy year for us, with no paid funding for the work we do (apart from claiming back fuel and carer costs). We continue to support residents of Lincolnshire who have disabilities and their careers. We continue to support all those who come to us for help or advice and supporting local meetings and groups who ask for support, advice or representation.

Unfortunately due to health reasons and lack of finance our attendance at meetings has been curtailed substantially this year. However our commitment and offer of help remain strong. We also continue to look for avenues of funding which won’t restrict our ability to act as a voice for our disabled communities.

We look forward to growing our networks further by supporting even more groups, sharing information and knowledge with the ethos that better informed and supported service users are given the opportunity to live as independently as they want with the options of having the choice and control they want.

Our annual accounts and report on our web presence is available on request.

Below you will find a list of all the things we have been involved in through the year.

Information about Lincs Alert and Pegasus security systems for disabled people.

Pegasus is a Lincolnshire data-based system for anyone with disabilities to make easy contact with the Police. To join Pegasus you have to register with the Police via 101 or by completing an application form.  You are given a Pegasus card which has a pin number on it which you have to quote.  When you ring 101 or 999 say Pegasus, quote your PIN number and all your details will come up on a screen, name, address, disabilities and how you communicate.  Information supplied to the Police will not be shared without permission.  Registration is free.

Lincs Alert is a community messaging system run by Lincolnshire Police and is similar to Neighbourhood Watch. What is important to so many people is that you can register on

the Alert system without using a computer.  You can receive alerts by phone.  For more information and to register, phone 01522 558399.
