  1. Peer Support: definitions, its importance and what you can offer. Questioning via the Socratic Method for self evaluation and gaining knowledge. Skills – listening, communicating, taking notes, record keeping. Code of ethics, safeguarding, mental capacity, diversity and equality, data protection.

  2. Self Directed Support: defining needs, benefits check, personalisation/direct payments process, RAS/needs assessment, financial assessment, types of payment e.g. personal budget/individual budget/direct payment, personal/support plan, getting the money, keeping records.

  3. Helping People find Community Services: organising your support, employing people, advert, interviews, job offer, CRB/references, contract, tax, pay matters, sharing resources, developing your own services, shared services, other forms of support, buying goods and services.
